Kiwi Ko seizes Kia Classic lead
Lydia Ko took sole possession of the lead after shooting a bogey-free 67 and Lee Min-Jee aced a 275-yard par four in the third round of the Kia Classic. World number one Ko, of New Zealand, is at 14-under overall and has a three shot lead over Park Sung-Hyun (68), Brittany Lang (70), and Jenny Shin (71) in the LPGA Tour event. "You don't get that many opportunities where you're going into the final round with a few-shot lead," Ko said.

Day advances at WGC Match Play as Casey withdraws
Australia's Jason Day became the first player to book his place in the knockout stage of the WGC Match Play on Friday after England's Paul Casey withdrew from their final group stage match. Casey was forced to concede after only six holes at the Austin Country Club after complaining of stomach cramps. Casey's withdrawal ensured Day qualified as winner of Group 2 following earlier wins over Thailand's Thongchai Jaidee and Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell.
