Grand Slam matchup of major golf champs discontinued
The PGA Grand Slam of Golf has been discontinued by the PGA of America, which said the event struggled to find support in an increasingly crowded late-year schedule. Last year's Grand Slam of Golf was to have been played at Trump National in California, but after controversial remarks by owner and US Presidential candidate Donald Trump, the event was moved by the PGA only to be cancelled when no new venue could be found. "After carefully evaluating the PGA Grand Slam of Golf over the past few years and studying how this event fits with today's golf landscape, the PGA has decided to discontinue the event," the PGA of America said in a statement.
