Olympics: Funky or classic? Medal ceremony gets musical makeover

Olympic organizers will bring typical Brazilian informality to the medal ceremonies at Rio2016 with three different kinds of podium music depending on whether the sports are considered classical, pop or cool, officials said. Winners in sports such as fencing and equestrian will hear a more traditional sound, while funkier tunes will play for those triumphing in newer and younger sports such as BMX biking and beach volleyball, said Christy Nicolay, executive producer of sport presentations. A more pop sound would be played for sports such as basketball, Nicolay added.

NBA MVP Curry regrets missing Rio Games

NBA: Finals-Cleveland Cavaliers at Golden State Warriors(Reuters) – Two-time NBA MVP Stephen Curry said the injuries he suffered during the playoffs forced him to pull out of the Rio Olympics, a decision that still does not sit well with him. "I wasn't too happy with the situation of having to pull out of the games," Curry told the Mercury News on Thursday during a Facebook Live news conference. The Golden State shooting artist was uncharacteristically inconsistent for the remainder of the post-season, which concluded with the Warriors losing to the Cleveland Cavaliers in a Game Seven finale of the NBA Finals.
